Psycho was released in the 1960; the film was the film to kill the most famous actress near the begging. She is the main/ largest images on this poster as she would have been the most recognised actress. The image of her is yellow and so it the title, which is the largest text, this is so the audience know that that is the title. Above that is the directors name, this is above the title of the film so that an audience can see who is the director is as they might like their previous work. At the top of the poster there is the text 'A new and altogether different screen excitement!!!' this is as the public had never seen a horrific film like this and a film which showed slight nudity, this is why they have put that text on there to emphasise that it is different. It also says that it was produced by Paramount as people will know the quality of the film will be good as it is produced by then, it will draw in their target audience.
The main image of this film poster is the two main characters, the girl character tells you a bit the story as she is pregnant, this will draw in their target audience. It is import they do this so that they do not get bad reviews. The images of the two characters also tell you about their personality. We can see that the boy is awkward and the girl is strong minded and has an attitude, we also know she isn't the stereotypical American girl and she is dress quite like a tom boy. The title 'Juno' is in capital letter and in the back ground, it fills about a third of the background showing the little is of importance. The colour orange also plays some important part as the title is orange and the boy and girl are both wearing orange, you find out in the film what the link is and why they have chosen to use this colour. The setting in the poster is ordinary
showing the target audience that this film is realistic. I think the colour orange contracts this and therefore stands out, this connotes that the characters stand out in the film. They use the semantic field of children and birth 'growing up' and 'bumps'. The word bumps has two meanings, a baby bump and bumps as it tricky things in life. They have included a review says 'Hilariously funny and totally original' they have also given it a five start rating, this makes the audience more include to watch it as it is something different.
This posters image takes up two thirds of the poster. The is off a man with an axe and his head through the door, as he is in the foreground he is being seen as the main characters, we also see who he is trying to attack and how frightened she is. This is an insight to the audience of what they might expect. The title of the film 'shining' is in re which represents blood and danger, this is warning the audience that the film will have some bloody images. I think the poster is so simple as they don't want to give anything away, they are just giving the audience a taster of what to expect. It could also be a contrast as the poster is simple the actual film, story line, plot and characters are the complete opposite.
